NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: TOWANDA ROLLS PAST NP-LIBERTY (2021-02-19)
Northern Tier Sports ReportLIBERTY — Towanda jumped out to a 24-5 first quarter lead en route to a 60-24 non-league girls’ basketball win over NP-Liberty Friday.
Porschia Bennett led the Knights with 19 points, seven rebounds, six steals and three assists as Erin Barrett had 13 points and eight boards.
Paige Manchester netted 11 points to go with five rebounds, seven assists, five steals and three blocks, while Amanda Horton finished with seven points.
Gracie Schoonover had six points and five rebounds with Kenadie Packard and Ally Hurley scoring two points each. Packard also nabbed five boards.
Eva Rice led NPL with eight points as Kiersten Mitstifer and Elizabeth Ritchie had seven points apiece. Darby Stetter rounded things out with two points for the Mountaineers.
Bennett and Barrett had six points each to lead the Knights in the first quarter, while Manchester and Horton netted five. Bennett then scored eight points in the second as Towanda built a 40-11 halftime lead.
The scoring slowed down for them in the second half - they had just 20 points over the third and fourth quarters - though defensively they held tough, holding NPL to 13 over the same span.
The Lady Knights are hosting Wellsboro for an NTL contest at noon.
