NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: CANTON'S RALLY COMES UP SHORT AGAINST WILLIAMSON (2021-02-19)
Northern Tier Sports ReportTIOGA JUNCTION — Canton nearly rallied from a slow start, but ultimately fell to Williamson 34-31 in NTL girls’ basketball action Friday.
Reagan Kelley led Canton with 12 points as Aislynn Williams scored 10. Emmie Tymeson had four, Courteney Weiskopft netted three and Molly Ward added two.
Lateisha Peterson led Williamson with 16 points as Taylor Rae-Jones notched eight. Adalaide Schmitt and Lyla Burrows had four points apiece, as Teagan Jones rounded things out with two.
Peterson put Williamson up 10-2 after the first quarter with eight points. Canton fought back in the second, led by Williams’ five points, cutting the deficit to 17-11.
Williamson kept their advantage into the third quarter, out scoring Canton 10-9 as Peterson had five points. Four different Canton players scored to keep pace.
In the final frame Canton got five points from Kelley to out score Williamson 11-7, while also holding them without a field goal, but Williamson went 7-for-9 from the charity stripe to hold on to the lead.
Canton hosts Wyalusing Saturday with a 1 p.m. start.
