NTL CROSS-COUNTRY: CANTON'S HALBFOERSTER TAKES SIXTH AT NTLS (2024-10-12)
BY CHRIS MANNINGNorthern Tier Sports ReportROME — Canton’s Lawrence Halbfoerster came into the NTL Coaches’ Championships with big expectations. He didn’t quite meet them place wise but still put down a fast time.
“It was good but not my best,” was how he described it.
Halbfoerster was eyeing a top three place, and ran in third for a little bit, but ultimately took sixth in 17:15.8.
“I haven’t run this course this season, but coming out and running a low 17, it’s not bad,” he said.
He plans on using this as motivation for the District IV Championships in a couple weeks, as he saw some of his competition in NEB’s Ryan Jones, who passed him during the last mile.
“It’s give me a good competitor that I’m going to have to work for it and not just getting it easily,” said Halbfoerster.
Canton (144) was fifth overall.
Manuel Halbfoerster (18:54.7) took 26th, Landon Lake (19:29.1) was 33rd, Simon Wile (19:55.4) finished 44th, and Nick Weaver (21:02.9) rounded out the top five in 56th.
