ROME — Wyalusing’s Megan King led her team to a top three finish at the NTL Coaches’ Invitational Saturday.

King (21:09.8) took sixth overall as Wyalusing finished with 79 points.

“I was real happy with it,” King said about the race. “My mindset this morning, when I woke up was that I let God direct me through this race, help me, strengthen me, and push me. It really pushed me throughout.”

She came out on top of a second pack of runners behind the front runners.

“I was hoping to start out slower, and then I wanted to pick it up in the second mile,” said King.

Camryn Gesford (22:49.7) was 14th overall for the Rams with Riley Porter (23:03.7) taking 16th. Marci Gowin (24:43.3) and Laina Beebe (24:38.7) rounded out the top five in 28th and 29th.

They were 16 points behind second place NEB, who will be their toughest competition to win a district team title in two weeks.

“I think it sets us up really well,” King said about seeing the Panthers in an invitational setting. “I think we can definitely with at districts.”

Trennan Tewksbury (17:47.6) was 10th overall to lead the boys with Bradyn Johnson (19:30.7) taking 35th. Jack Fischer (19:41.8) was 39th, and Zibiah Walton (22:43.30 came in 73rd.
