NTL FOOTBALL: TOWANDA PULLS AWAY LATE FROM TUNKHANNOCK (2024-10-19)

TUNKHANNOCK — Towanda overcame a turnover plagued game to pull away from Tunkhannock, 28-3, late in the fourth to keep the T-Bone in non-league football action Friday.

The Knights ran for 342-yards on the night but due to losing five fumbles they led just 7-3 going into the fourth quarter. In the final frame they scored three touchdowns in the final 10 minutes to secure the win.

Riley Vanderpool had 228-yards and two scores on 19 carries while Caden Delamater had a touchdown and 55-yards rushing on 10 carries. Reese Sluyter added 45-yards and a scorn two carries.

Vanderpool was 5-for-9 for 28-yards with Garner hauling in all five passes.

Zach Latwinski led Tunkhannock, going 7-for-15 for 59-yards with a pick. Karver Lewis led the Tigers on the ground with 53-yards on 16 carries.

Through the air Andrew Lupinski had four catches for 48-yards, while Jaydon Ransome hauled in three catches for 30-yards.

Caden Delamater put Towanda up 7-0 with 8:13 left in the first quarter as Jack Wheaton hit the PAT.

Callum Jerome made it a 7-3 contest with a 27-yard field goal with 5:52 in the third quarter.

With 9:56 on the clock Vanderpool ran in a score from 6-yards out as Wheaton’s kick made it 14-3.

Vanderpool added another score with 4:05 left, followed by Reese Sluyter punching one in from a yard out with 1:40 on the clock. Wheaton went 2-for-2 on the kicks for the 28-3 final.

Towanda (7-2) will host Wyalusing for the Bronze Helmet next Friday.
