NTL GIRLS BASKETBALL: TOWANDA ROLLS TO 47-19 WIN OVER WELLSBORO (2021-02-20)
Northern Tier Sports ReportTOWANDA — Towanda jumped out to an 18-2 first quarter lead on its way to a 47-19 NTL girls basketball win over Wellsboro Saturday.
Porschia Bennett led the Knights with 13 points, six rebounds, three steals and two assists, and Paige Manchester had 11 points, five boards, five assists, four steals and two blocks.
Gracie Schoonover netted eight points and grabbed five rebounds, while Amanda Horton finished with six points. Kenadie Packard had three points and Erin Barrett, Bella Hurley and Ally Hurley had two points each. Barrett also nabbed six rebounds.
Emma Coolidge led Wellsboro with six points as Rylie Boyce added five. Sarah Mosier, Abbye Cavanaugh, Ella Posada and Kiyah Boyce scored two apiece.
Manchester and Bennett had five points each to lead the Knights in the first quarter. The duo each scored six points in the second as Towanda built a 36-5 halftime lead.
They would score 11 points in the second half, to Wellsboro’s 14, and cruise to the win.
The Lady Knights will travel to Athens Wednesday in a key match-up both league-wise and in District standings.
