NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: TROY USES STRONG DEFENSE TO BEAT CV (2021-02-20)

TROY — Troy held CV to single digit scoring in all four quarters as they picked up a 32-18 win in NTL girls’ basketball action Saturday.

After taking a 20-12 halftime lead the Lady Trojans out scored them 12-6 in the second half.


Sydney Taylor had 11 points, eight boards and five steals to lead Troy as Hannah Zimmerman had nine points, nine rebounds and four steals.


Rachel Kingsley finished with five points, 13 rebounds and five steals, while Bailey Johnson had three points.


Olivia Call and Makenna Matthews had two points apiece, as Call nabbed four boards.


Abby Ackley led CV with seven points as teammate Kyra Daley netted six. Ruby Sherman and Jenna Quick had two points apiece, while McKenzie Surine scored one.


It was a low scoring first quarter as Troy led 7-6, but a 13 point second quarter gave them some breathing room. Taylor had five points to pace the Trojans in the second, as Zimmerman scored four.


In the second half Troy held CV to just three field goals, and allowed just three free throws all game.


Troy is at Towanda Monday.
