Then there were three. NEB volleyball starts off the week by heading to Mountain View for state play, while Troy and Towanda host district semifinal football games.

VOLLEYBALL

Tuesday, November 5

NEB (19-4) at Mountain View (18-4), 6 p.m.: The District IV Champion travels to the District II Champion. NEB defeated Mountain View 3-0 in their match of the season back in August, but that was at NEB. If NEB wins they’ll play the winner of the District III champion, and the District VI runner-up on Saturday.

FOOTBALL

Friday, November 8

Southern Columbia (7-4) vs Troy (11-0) at Mansfield University, 7 p.m.: The game of the night in Pennsylvania as the top ranked team in the state takes on the defending state champions. Southern had an up-and-down regular season, losing three of four at one point, but are riding a 4-game winning streak into the semifinals. Troy hasn’t played a close game all the way through since Dover in week two.

Warrior Run (7-4) at Towanda (9-2), 7 p.m.: The Black Knights have won six straight heading into this semifinal, their first since 2014. Warrior Run got the 21-7 upset of Loyalsock last week, but limped into the playoffs, going 1-3 in their final four games, including a 32-29 loss to Hughesville. Both teams have wins over Bloomsburg, Warrior Run 38-24, Towanda 42-20 last week.
