YOUTH: TOWANDA GIRLS WIN FIRST TWO HOOPS GAMES (2024-11-06)

The Towanda girls’ junior high basketball team opened their season with two wins.

Towanda 52 vs Sayre 5

Towanda junior high girls basketball took home a 52-5 win over Sayre to kick-off their season. Taylor Aquilio led all scorers with 14 points followed by Mila Santiago with eight points and Rhyann Kithcart with seven points. Maris Cobb and Kaylen Sluyter scored six each.  Gemma Brown scored four, Ellie Cook three, Secret Salsman and Lily Bartholomew dropped buckets for two points apiece.

For Sayre, Mariana M. scored four points and Maddie R. chipped in with a point.

11/05/24 Towanda 39 vs Williamson 7 - GAME 1

The second game of the season saw the Towanda junior high girls basketball team take a 39-7 win over Williamson. Taylor Aquilio scored 13 points, Ellie Cook six points, Mila Santiago five points, Maris Cobb and Kaylen Sluyter four points each. Gemma Brown finished with three points and Rhyann Kithcart and Johna Miller scored two points apiece.

For Williamson, L. Hackett scored three points and H. Gonzalez and G. Nagy scored two points each.

11/05/24 Towanda 24 vs Williamson 12 - GAME 2

In the second girls game of the night, Towanda captured a 24-12 win and was led by Brielle Wright with 10 points followed by Maci Alexander and Adrianna Weaver with six points each. Mia McKernan chipped in with a basket for two points.

Williamson was led by B. Bellows with six points with the trio of K. Lovell, M. Knapp and J. Wellar with two points each.

Towanda is at North Penn Liberty on Wednesday and home versus Athens on Saturday.
