NTL VOLLEYBALL: YOUNG WYALUSING BATTLES THROUGH 2024 CAMPAIGN (2024-11-06)

Northern Tier Sports Report
Wyalusing volleyball battled through another tough season, though not one without a few highlights.

The Rams went 7-13 overall, though got big wins over playoff teams CV (3-1) and Lewisburg (3-2), their rivals Towanda (3-0) as they swept Sayre, and split with Hughesville. A road win at Elk Lake gave them a 3-2 non-league record.

“Even though we finished the season 7-13, the Lady Rams continued to put in the work and they kept their heads held high,” said coach Renee Broschart. “We have a large team with a lot of potential. Throughout the 2024 season we improved our game by being more strategic on offense and more disciplined on defense. We also worked at becoming more consistent and accurate at the service line. As a result, we played some great volleyball. We had many long volleys and almost broke through to a lot of set wins. The absolute best highlight of our 2024 season was seeing our gymnasium packed for the Huffman Memorial Game and winning a close match against the Towanda Black Knights.”

Senior Kylie Pickett had 117 points, 117 digs, 96 assists, 55 kills, and 38 aces on the year while fellow senior Rachel Wilson had 64 kills, 115 digs, and 25 blocks.

Sophomore Emily Johns led them in kills with 97, while adding 34 aces, and 109 points, as Addison Fluck notched 71 kills, 42 aces, 124 points, and 10 blocks.

Josie Ferris took over the setting duties during the season and finished with 249 assists, to go with 145 digs. Kirra Millard notched 139 digs, and Abbie Tuttle finished with 116 digs.

As they move forward Wyalusing is hoping to turn the corner in 2025, and has plenty of reason to be positive.

“With more than 50 athletes participating in the program across 7th-12th grades, we had a fantastic turnout this season,” remarked Broschart. “We are very excited to see what the future holds for the Lady Rams volleyball program!”
