COLLEGE: AREA ATHLETES STARRING AT THE COLLEGE LEVEL (2024-11-10)

Northern Tier Sports Report
Former NTL starts have been busy on the college scene this past fall, with several making their mark at the next level.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

NEB graduate Mel Shumway earned first team all honors for the Lackawanna College Soccer Team for Division-I/II All-Region XIX recently.


Shumway had eight goals this season, including a hat trick in a 7-1 win over Lehigh Carbon CC, as Lackawanna lost in the first round of the playoffs. 


Towanda graduate Kathryn Dunn has appeared in 19 contests this season, and started two for Penn College. She has three goals and an assist.


FOOTBALL

Canton’s Timmy Ward continues to suit up for Rutgers on special teams, with two tackles on the season for the 4-4 Scarlet Knights.


Plenty of locals suited up for Mansfield University’s Sprint squad, with Justice Chimics and Jackson Taylor from Troy.


Chimics was 3-for-3 for 44-yards against Saint Thomas Aquinas, while he has four receptions for 89-yards and a touchdown this season.


Taylor has been a tackling machine, with 66 on the season, including a season high 15 against Penn. He also has three tackles for loss.


Troy’s Mason Imbt has started in all nine games for St. Francis University this season on the offensive line. They’ve gone 3-6 on the year, recently beating Stonehill 34-0 for their Homecoming.


Mansfield is 2-5 on the season.


There are two area athlete down at Lycoming, with Towanda’s Trent Kithcart had eight tackles this season, and two sacks. He had a season high of four tackles against Hilbert.


Troy’s Mason Woodward has six tackles for Lycoming this season, as well. The Warriors are 4-4 so far this season.


Canton’s Michael Davis has six tackles on the season for Alfred University, who is 5-3 on the year.


Troy graduate Camryn Harwick had two catches for 32 yards for Thaddeus Stevens in a game against Hudson Valley.


Canton’s Riley Parker has had a good season for Bloomsburg University, rushing for 116-yards and six touchdowns on 39 carries. He also has two catches for 20-yards, and two tackles for the 5-4 Huskies.


WOMEN’S CROSS-COUNTRY

Wyalusing graduated Kayla Beebe helped Misericordia University to their second straight MAC Championship this past weekend. Beebe was was named to the All-Mac third team after taking 23rd overall, and fifth on the team.


Running for Lycoming, Troy graduate Sydney Taylor was second on their tam at the Landmark Conference Championships, taking 69th overall in 26:44.27.


MENS’ SOCCER

Troy graduate Wyatt Hodlofski has appeared in four games for Lycoming College this season.
