NTL GOLF: TOWANDA HAS BIG BOUNCE YEAR IN 2024 (2024-11-12)
BY CHRIS MANNINGNorthern Tier Sports ReportIt was a big bounce back year for Towanda boys’ golf, and a record setting one for the Lady Knights, in 2024.
The first ever Towanda girls’ team brought home a District IV, Class AA title. The Lady Knights finished with 325 points behind Clara Glantz (108), Izzy Repsher (108), Rosie Glantz (109), and Payton Perry (117). All four will return next season.
On the boys’ side Towanda went from a 16-29 record in 2023 to 32-11-1 in 2024, finishing third in the NTL standings, and third in the District IV, Class AA standings.
Individually, freshman Owen Savercool earned a state berth, tying for fifth overall at the District IV, Class AA Individual Tournament.
Fellow freshman Boom Thompson (81.22) had the lowest average for the Knights, followed by sophomore Graham Welles (81.81). They were fourth and fifth in the league.
Savercool shot 84.72 for eighth overall in the league, while Baylee Clark notched an 88.87, and Owen Lane had a 93.83.
All but Lane return in 2025 as the Knights look to compete for NTL and district titles.
