SHEELEY'S LAY-UP LEADS TROY PAST TOWANDA IN JH HOOPS (2024-11-13)

Troy took two from Towanda in junior high girls’ basketball action.

Troy junior high girls basketball picked up a 24-22 A game win over Towanda with Jordyn Sheeley banking in the game winner with 1.7 seconds remaining on the clock.  

It was a hard fought battle with both teams going on runs. Towanda clawed their way back in the game late in the fourth quarter to tie it up with under a minute remaining before Sheeley delivered the dagger for the Troy win.

Troy’s Alexa Lawrence knocked down two three-pointers and scored 10 total. Jordyn Sheeley scored six points, Kyli Oldroyd five points, Annika White two points, and Jazmyn Frisbie sank a free throw for a point. 

For Towanda, Taylor Aquilio dropped a three-pointer and scored 10 points. Mila Santiago scored five points, Maris Cobb four points, Kaylen Sluyter two points, and Secret Salsman swished a free throw for a point. 

The second game of the night saw Troy take a 26-5 win over Towanda. 

Troy was led by Madison Morgan with 11 points followed by Nora Harris with five points. Five Troy girls scored two points each to round out the scoring:  Nikki Berry, Christine Ward, Nuelani Tauaefa, Leah Machmer, Jazmyn Frisbie. 

For Towanda, Gemma Brown scored three points and Lily Bartholomew scored two points. 

Towanda travels to Wellsboro for a 6 PM tipoff on Thursday and hosts Canton on Saturday at 10 AM.  Troy hosts Athens on Thursday at 6 PM.
