TOWANDA JH GIRLS EARN MORE WINS AGAINST WELLSBORO, CANTON (2024-11-17)

TOWANDA — Towanda girls’ junior high hoops picks up more wins against Wellsboro and Canton.

Towanda junior high girls basketball picked up a 49-17 win over Wellsboro with Taylor Aquilio scoring 12 points and Mila Santiago 10 points. Secret Salsman had eight points, Maris Cobb six points, Kaylen Sluter five points, and the duo of Gemma Brown and Rhyann Kithcart scoring four points each. 


Wellsboro's Kya Lawton scored seven points, Shayla Hamblin six points, Paige Rush and Lena Rotherrel scored two points each.  


Mila Santiago got hot and knocked down three from behind the arc to lead Towanda with 15 points as they defeated Canton 42-22 in game one. Taylor Aquilio scored 13 points, Maris Cobb and Kaylen Sluter had four points each.  The trio of Secret Salsman, Rhyann Kithcart and Lily Bartholomew scored two each.   


For Canton, Lucy Proseus led the way with a solid 14-point performance along with Raya Preston scoring six and Linley Secrest scoring two.   


The second game of the day came down to the wire with Black Knights taking home a 23-21 win over the visiting Warriors.  


Rhyann Kithcart led Towanda with five points, Maci Alexander and Johna Miller scored four points apiece.  Brielle Wright scored three points.  Lesley Parker, Anna Weaver, and Lily Bartholomew scored two points each.  Mia McKernan sank a free throw for a point.


For Canton, Brook M. scored eleven points.  Lael scored four points.  Piper, Hannah, and Rory scored two points each.


Towanda travels to NPM for a 6 PM tipoff on Monday and hosts Wyalusing on Thursday at 6 PM.
