NTL CROSS-COUNTRY: NEB BOYS, GIRLS HAVE STRONG 2024 SEASONS (2024-11-17)

Northern Tier Sports Report
The NEB boys’ cross-country team had one of their most dominant seasons in recent memory, while both squads kept their NTL Small School titles in 2024.

“I thought the season went great,” said NEB coach Dillon Lockwood. “I was very proud of both teams. We are losing some key seniors on both boys and girls but I think our younger runners have shown that they are ready to take it to the next level. I am looking forward to next season.”

The boys squad went undefeated in NTL dual meet action, won the NTL Coaches’ Invitational, the District IV, Class A Championships, and took sixth at the PIAA Championships.

Senior Creed Dewing became the first NTL boy to be a 4-time state medalist, taking ninth overall at the PIAA Championships, while earning his third straight individual district title.

Fellow senior Ryan Jones just missed a state medal, finishing 28th at states, while the fellow seniors Brody Bennett and Tanner Herb were also key cogs during the season.

They return three of their top seven: Dayton Russell, Russell Martin, and freshman Jackson Martin.

On the girls’ side their only dual meet loss was to Towanda, holding on to the Small School title by edging Wyalusing in the final dual meet of the season.

They took second at the NTL Coaches’ Invitational, and missed a District IV, Class A title by one point, coming up just short of states.

The Panthers return six of their seven top runners, including top 10 district finishers in Sophie Bennett and Anaiah Kolesar, but say good-bye to senior Amelia Kapr.
