NTL BOYS' BASKETBALL: WILLIAMS LEADS TROY PAST TOWANDA

TROY — Troy’s Nick Williams had a season high 20 points as the Trojans picked up a 61-43 win over Towanda in NTL Division-I boys’ basketball action Monday.
Troy jumped out to a 14-7 first quarter lead and never looked back as they slowly pulled away from the Knights.
Ty Barrett finished with 14 points, while Ethan VanNoy finished with 12. Mason Imbt chipped in with nine points as Jake Deitrick, Zeb Oldroyd and Devin Selleck had two points apiece.
Justin Schoonover led Towanda with nine points, while Kolby Hoffman and Logan Lambert had eight points each. Dante Ottaviani finished with seven, Teagan Irish added six and Elias Shrawder came away with five.
Williams and VanNoy had five points apiece in the first quarter to give the Trojans the seven point advantage. In the second Williams hit two 3-pointers, and finished with eight points, as Troy led 33-18 at the half.
Towanda found some offense in the third behind six points from Schoonover, but Troy still outpaced them 16-14 as Barrett scored 12 of his points in the quarter.
In the final frame Williams finished with seven points to secure the win for Troy. Ottaviani led Towanda with six in the fourth.
Troy won the JV game 50-32 as Justice Chimics had 16 points and Jeff Busch netted 15. Shrawder and Owen Clark had nine points each for the Knights.
The Trojans now need just one win in their final two games to clinch the NTL Division-I title. They will travel to NP-Liberty Tuesday with a 7:30 p.m. start - after the Canton-NPL girls games ends - and then travel to Wellsboro on Thursday with a 6 p.m. start.
Towanda travels to Wyalusing Tuesday with a 6 p.m. start.
