COLLEGE: TROY GRAD SEYMOUR GETS WIN BUT LEHIGH FALLS AT PITT (2024-11-24)
BY BRYAN SEYMOURNorthern Tier Sports ReportThis weekend, 18th-ranked Lehigh Wrestling traveled to Pittsburgh to face the 21st-ranked Panthers. With several ranked wrestlers in the lineup on both sides, this had the making to be a close dual.
Starting the match at 125 pounds, Lehigh sent out 15th-ranked wrestler Sheldon Seymour to take on 16th-ranked Nick Babin. These two wrestlers squared off a few weeks back, with Seymour coming out on top. However, entering this match in a dual in a packed Pittsburgh house it was up to Seymour to start Lehigh off on the right foot.
Seymour would secure the bout’s first takedown. Seymour would work on top to build up his riding time before allowing the escape to take a 3-1 lead into the second. With the choice going to Lehigh, Seymour would choose the neutral position. Again scoring another takedown and added more riding time before giving up another escape to take a 6-2 lead entering the third period. Seymour would start the third in the down position with Babin choosing the top position. Putting on a very good ride by Babin as he would keep Seymour down for the third period. However, Seymour would be nailed for stalling twice in the period and surrendered a point to make the final score 6-3.
Seymour would give the Lehigh Mountain Hawks the 3-0 with the decision. In the end of the dual Pittsburgh would take the win 21-12 for the final score. Lehigh is now 1-1 in duals and will be off till their match with number-one-ranked Penn State in Lehigh on December 8.
