NTL GIRLS' CROSS-COUNTRY: ATHENS' BRONSON, TOWANDA'S LARSON THE BC CO-RUNNERS OF THE YEAR (2024-12-04)

Northern Tier Sports Report
It was an exciting season of girls’ running around the county with plenty of big performances from around Bradford County.

Two area runners stood out in Athens’ Sara Bronson and Towanda’s Izzy Larson. Both were top three finishers at the NTL Coaches’ Invitational, both were state qualifiers, and both had top 60 finishes down at states.

They went head to head four times and went 2-2, with Bronson winning the first two meetings in the dual meet and the NTL Coaches’ Invitational, while Larson won at districts and states, making them the Co-Runners of the Year for the Bradford County Cross-country Girls’ All-star team.

Larson’s teammate Mary-Kate Eberlin was a model of consistency running in the number two spot for the Knights all season. The freshman was seventh at the NTL Coaches’ Invitational, and was a top 25 finisher at districts, earning her the Newcomer of the Year Award.

Wyalusing’s Camryn Gesford had some big improvements this season, improving by over two minutes at the NTL Coaches’ Invitational for a top 15 spot, and by nearly 20 seconds at districts to help the Rams to a third place finish as a team, making her the Breakout Runner of the Year.

Black Knight coach Mike Maurer brought an NTL title, and an undefeated dual meet season, back Towanda for the first time in over a decade, earning him the Coach of the Year honors.
