COLLEGE: WYALUSING GRAD WOODRUFF TAKES FOURTH AT TOURNAMENT FOR PENN COLLEGE (2024-12-09)

Nick Woodruff and the Penn College Wildcats participated in the Blue Jay Invitational over the weekend. 

Nick Woodruff opened his tournament up in the round of 16 against Benjamin Tybur from the University of Scranton. Opening with the first takedown to take a 3-0 lead. After an escape for Tybur Woodruff would score another takedown and allowed another escape to take the 6-2 lead. Woodruff would earn another takedown and straight to back for 4 back points before locking up the cradle to win his first match with a fall in 1:29

In the quarterfinal match Woodruff would face Valentino Pryor from McDaniel. Woodruff would score a takedown with a throw at the buzzer of the first period. Woodruff would defer choice to the third period with Pryor choosing the down position Woodruff would work on top for the entire second period and take a 3-0 lead into the third. Woodruff would choose the top position. Again, woodruff would work for a turn and in the end of the match Woodruff would finish on top and win the match 4-0 with ride time point added. 

In the semi-final match Woodruff would face off against Will Davis of Elizabethtown. Davis would score the matches opening takedown to take the 3-0 lead. Woodruff would earn the reversal to cut the lead to 3-2. Davis would earn. The escae to take the 4-2 lead after the first period. Woodruff would start in the down position to start the second period. Woodruff would get the escape to cut the lead to 4-3. Davis would score a takedown for the 7-3 lead and then put Woodruff to his back to earn 4 back pints for the 11-3 lead. Woodruff would get nailed for a stall warning. Woodruff would again get called for another stall call to make the score 12-3. Woodruff would finally earn the escape to make the score 12-4 however Davis would get another takedown to take the 15-4 lead going into the third period. Davis would choose the neutral position to start the third. Another stall call on Woodruff to make the score 16-4. Another takedown by Davis would make the score 19-4 to take the win by technical fall in 5:55. Add the ride time point in to make the final score 20-4.

In the third-place match Woodruff would medical forfeit the match to end his day 2-2. Check back later for more college updates on Nick Woodruff and Penn College.
