NTL BOYS' BASKETBALL: NEB FALLS TO ELK LAKE (2024-12-16)

ROME — NEB boys’ basketball saw their 5-game win streak come to an end as they fell to Elk Lake, 64-33, during non-league action Monday.

The Warriors led most of the way, with NEB cutting the deficit to 12 points early in the second half only for Elk Lake to pull away.


Cooper Brown shot 7-for-11 to finish with 16 points, plus five boards, while Tanner Herb shot 3-for-5 for seven points.


Eli Stanton scored four points, with Tyler Thoman, Brennin Thoman, and Dayton Russell finishing with two points apiece. Brennin Thoman also handed out four assists.


Chase Pond led four Elk Lake players in double figures with 16 points. Logan Ayotte and John Heitsman had 13 points apiece, with Noah Gesford finishing with 12.


Elk Lake jumped out to a 20-10 first quarter lead as they hit three 3-balls. Brown led the Panthers with six points.


The Panthers played them more evenly in the second quarter, with the Warriors getting them 16-13 to take a 36-23 lead at the half.


In the third, though, Elk Lake held NEB to just four points as they built a 47-27 lead. In the final frame they out scored the Panthers 17-6 to secure the win.


Elk Lake JV won 60-44 as Nate Gross led the Panthers with 18 points, while Clay Wilks finished with 13.


NEB (5-2) will host Troy for their season opener on Tuesday.
