SULLIVAN COUNTY EDGES MEADOWBROOK IN DEFENSIVE BATTLE (2024-12-16)
Northern Tier Sports ReportLAPORTE — Sullivan County boys’ basketball won their fourth straight game, edging Meadowbrook Christian, 38-32, in a defensive battle Monday.
A 15-4 second quarter proved to be the different for the Griffins, who survived an 11 point second half to get the win.
Tucker Blasi filled out the stat sheet, going for 11 points, six steals, four assists, and four boards for the Griffins, as Lucas King added nine points.
Colin King and Ryan Murray had four points each, with Jaiden. Moore netting four points. Cayden Smithkors was held to two points, but did nab nine boards in the effort.
Josiah Baker led Meadowbrook with 12 points.
Sullivan held a 12-11 first quarter lead behind four points from Blasi. They would out score Meadowbrook nine 11 in the second quarter to take a 27-15 lead at the half as six different Griffins scored.
Meadowbrook returned the favor in the third, out scoring Sullivan 9-3 to cut the deficit to 30-24 going into the final frame.
Both teams scored eight points each in the fourth as the Griffins held on for the win.
Meadowbrook won the JV game 38-17 as Madden Fries had seven points for Sullivan.
The Griffins (4-1) host CMVT on Wednesday.
