NTL BOYS' BASKETBALL: TOWANDA FALLS LATE TO NP-LIBERTY (2024-12-17)

LIBERTY — Towanda boys basketball dropped a tight one to NP-Liberty, 61-56, during NTL action Tuesday.

The Knights led 42-38 going into the fourth quarter when NPL erupted for five 3-balls as they out scored them 23-14 to get the win.


Darrius Farrell led the Knights with 20 points, including five 3-pointers, while Markel Garner netted 16.


Boom Thompson netted eight, Graham Welles finished with five, Bayley Poll notched four, and Ben Shrawder came away with three.


Adynn Wheeland had 22 to lead NPL, while Luke Kreger finished with 16.


The Mounties jumped out to 16-9 first quarter lead behind 10 points from Wheeland.


Towanda tightened their defense in the second quarter, holding NPL to just 10 points, as they cut it to 26-22 at the half.


Farrell and Markel then combined for 18 points in their 20 point third quarter - Farrell had 11 himself - as the Knights took the four point lead.


In the final frame Kreger went off for 10 points - hitting two of his team’s five 3-pointers - to rally for the win.


Towanda (3-3) hosts Athens on Thursday.
