CANTON — Canton led after one but Troy would pull away late to beat the Warriors, 59-40, during NTL girls’ basketball action Wednesday.

Canton led 12-10 at the first horn, but a 13-5 Troy run in the second put them up 23-17. The Trojans extended their lead to 39-27 after three, then used a 20-point fourth quarter to secure the win.

Four different Trojans got into double figures, led by Gloria Andrews’ 13 points, including three 3-pointers.

Giana Renzi netted 11, with Kailyn Sterling and Alyssa Parks scoring 10 points a piece. Madelyn Seeley had eight, with Ella VanNoy netting seven.

Cailyn VanNoy led Canton with 16 points, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals, while Lydia Roupp had 10 points on 4-for-9 shooting, to go with five rebounds.

Danah Wesneski added six points, as Alexis McRoberts had four points and 14 boards. Kendall Kitchen added four points, and three steals.

The Warriors got 3-balls from Kitchen and Roupp in the first quarter to take the 2-point lead. However, in the second VanNoy and Andrews combined for eight of Troy’s 13 points to help them get on top.

In the third Parks had six points, with Renzi netting five, while Roupp helped keep Canton in it with five points of her own.

In the fourth, though, Sterling took over with eight points as the Trojans pulled away.

Canton (3-3) will travel to NP-Mansfield on Friday, while Troy (2-1) welcomes NEB.
