NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: NEB JUMPS OUT EARLY AS THEY TOP WYALUSING (2024-12-18)

ROME — NEB won their fourth straight game as the Panthers jumped out fast in their 57-20 win over Wyalusing in NTL girls’ basketball action Wednesday.

NEB led 18-3 at the end of the first quarter and never looked back.


“The energy that the girls played with tonight was amazing,” said NEB coach Ben Beebe. “They played a complete game with no let up. As a coach you can’t be happier than when your team plays as one.”


Becca VanDeMark had 16 points, three steals, and three assists for NEB as Lillie Maynard added 13 points, eight boards, seven steals, and four assists.


Leah Beebe notched 11 points, five rebounds, three steals, and five assists, with Mallorie Maynard getting six points, and two steals.


Lilah Hughes had four points, seven boards, two steals, and four assists, while Kara Dughi chipped in with four points.


Emily Fowler led Wyalusing with six points with Emily Johns netted five. Liz Kilmer added three, Chloe Bennett and Treanna Nickeson had two points a piece, with Alysha Botts, and Rachel Wilson both scoring one.


Six different Panthers scored in the opening frame with Hughes, Beebe, and Dughi netting four points each.


NEB would out score Wyalusing 12-4 in the second behind eight points from Landmark, and four out of Beebe.


An 18-6 run in the third put the game away for the Panthers, with Lillie Maynard netting nine to lead NEB.


Wyalusing (2-4) will look to bounce back with Sayre on Friday with a 6 p.m. start while NEB (4-1) travels to Troy on Friday.
