NTL BOYS' BASKETBALL: NIEMCZYK'S 34 PUSHES CANTON PAST SAYRE (2021-02-25)

SAYRE — Isaiah Niemczyk scored 34 points to propel Canton past Sayre 63-56 in NTL Division-II boys’ basketball action Thursday.

The Warriors took a six points lead at the half, and held on from there.


Niemczyk had four 3-pointers in the game, but also got to the line, where was an efficient 8-for-10.


Cooper Kitchen chipped in with nine points as Caiden Williams finished with eight. Tyler Jannone scored seven, Cameron Bellows notched three and Conner Foust came away with two.


Dom Fabbri led Sayre with 18 points as Jackson Hubbard netted 17. Connor Young scored eight, Matt Lane had seven and Zach Moore rounded things out with six.


They were tied 14-14 after the first quarter as Niemczyk had nine of Canton’s points while Williams scored the other five. Hubbard had the hot hand for Sayre with seven points.


In the second Niemczyk continued to rack up the buckets, netting 14 points, including three 3-pointers, to put his team up 33-27 at the midway point. 


Sayre kept Canton in arm’s reach at the third as they held Niemczyk to a pair of free throws, though Jannone chipped in with five points. Fabbri had seven for the ‘Skins, but the deficit was still 45-39.


In the final frame Niemczyk came alive gain, scoring nine points, while Canton was a perfect 7-for-7 from the charity stripe to secure the win.


The Warriors will travel to NP-Liberty in their regular season finale on Saturday, the tip-off at 3:30 p.m.
