NTL WRESTLING: NEB'S ALEXANDER WINS TITLE AS PANTHERS HAVE FIVE REACH THE PODIUM AT JIM THORPE (2024-12-29)
Northern Tier Sports ReportJIM THORPE — NEB’s Mason Alexander won the 107-pound title at the Jim Thorpe Invitational over the weekend.
Alexander went 5-0, while Kale Howland (152) went 5-2 to take fourth.
Ben Ellis (285) went 4-3 to finish sixth, as Alex Gomez (139), and Russell Martin (145) both went 3-3 to finish eighth. Howland, Ellis, Gomez, and Martin all won blood round matches early on the morning Saturday to get on the podium.
NEB was 12th as a team with 98.5 points.
Alexander won 10-1 over Hughesville’s Ethan Wodrig in the finals.
Howland lost by tech fall to Wyalusing’s Michael Earle in the third place match, while Ellis fell 19-6 in the fifth place match to North Schuylkill’s Sander Stokes.
Martin lost 11-4 to Wallenpaupack’s Immauel Caulfield in his place match, while Gomez lost by fall to North Schuylkill’s Bryce Kile.
Hunter Comstock (127) lost his blood round match to go 1-2 on the day.
