NTL BOYS' BASKETBALL: TROY PULLS AWAY FROM HORSEHEADS IN JOSH PALMER FUND WIN (2024-12-29)

ELMIRA, N.Y. — Troy used a strong second half to pull away from Horseheads, 64-49, during boys’ basketball National Bracket action at the Josh Palmer Fund Sunday.

After falling down early Troy rallied to take a 22-21 lead at the half. They went on to out score the Raiders 42-28 in the second half for the win.


Jack Burbage had 26 points, nine boards, five assists, and four steals to lead Troy, as Evan Woodward finished with 13 points, four assists, and two steals.


Trey Teribury notched 11 points, four rebounds, and two steals, with Lincoln Chimics getting six points, nine rebounds, and four steals.


Joseph Frye chipped in with six points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals, while Spencer Martin added two points, and two steals.


Troy only had two first quarter field goals as they found themselves down 11-8 at the first horn.


Woodward got going in the second, netting seven points to lead Troy’s comeback, as they also got to the free throw line, where they went 6-for-11 in the frame.


Burbage then took over in the third, netting 13 points as they scored 24 as a team in the quarter. Woodward chipped in with six to give the Trojans a 46-34 lead after three.


Troy brought the win home in the fourth, going 8-for-9 from the free throw line s Burbage went 5-for-5.


With the win Troy will face Elmira in the fifth place game at Ernie Davis Academy on Monday with a 2:15 p.m. tip-off.
