NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: NEB EXPLODES FOR 50 POINTS IN TWO QUARTERS IN WIN OVER NPL (2025-01-04)

ROME — The two week lay-off didn’t slow the NEB girls’ basketball team down any as they rolled past NP-Liberty, 69-39, in NTL action Friday.

After going up 11-10 after one they exploded for 50 points over the next two quarters to pull away for the divisional win.


Four different Panthers hit double figures, led by Lilah Hughes’ 16 points, to go with four assists. Leah Beebe had 15 points, four steals, and eight assists, Lillie Maynard finished with 15 points, and Mallorie Maynard had 13 points, five boards, five steals, and three blocks.


Becca VanDeMark had eight points, 11 steals, five boards, and four assists, as Kara Dughi chipped in with two points. 


Haley Litzelman led NPL with 25 points. 


Mallorie Maynard and Hughes had four points each to lead the Panthers to a 1-point advantage at the end of the first.


Then, in the second NEB rattled off 27 points getting contributions from all five starters - Beebe had eight points, Lillie Maynard. Netted seven, Hughes scored six, VandeMark netted four, and Mallorie Maynard chipped in with two.


Up 38-18 at the half, NEB scored 23 more in the third, as Beebe had six points, while the Maynard sisters, and Hughes, had four points each.


NEB (5-2) will host St. John Neumann on Monday.
