NTL WRESTLING: NEB HAS SIX MEDALISTS AT SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT TOURNAMENT (2025-01-05)

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT — Six different NEB wrestlers got on the podium at the South Williamsport Mountaineer Invitational Saturday, as the Panthers finished ninth with 78.5 points.

Kale Howland (152) got the highest on the podium with a second place finish, while Mason Alexander (107) took third. Ben Ellis (285) was fourth, Hunter Comstock (127) finished sixth, Russell Martin (145) came in seventh, and Alex Gomez (139) took eighth.


Howland went 3-1 on the day winning his first two matches by falls, then scoring a 5-0 win over South’s Cade Lusk in the semifinals. He lost to Valley View’s Richard Leslie, 17-2, in the finals.


Alexander also went 3-1 scoring a fall in his first match, then falling 7-1 to Williamson’s Zander Wilson in the quarters. Alexander came back with a fall in the consolation semifinals, then won by tech fall in the third place match against Loyalsock’s Owen Peck.


Ellis went 2-2 on the day opening with a fall. He lost 11-5 in the next round, but then came back with a fall in the consolation semifinals. In the third place match he was pinned by Wellsboro’s Hayden Stevens in 1:30.


Comstock went 1-3, his win a fall over Williamson’s Karter Osgood. He opened with a loss, then lost 11-10 in the consolation semifinals to Pleasant Valley’s Victor Custodio. He then got pinned in the fifth place match.


Martin went 1-2, getting pinned in his first two matches, but then scoring a 32 second fall in the seventh place match.


Gomez went 1-3 on the day. After opening with a loss, he came back with a fall. In the consolations he lost 18-11 to Elk Lake’s Hunter Hunsinger, then lost by fall to South Williampsort’s Louis Mzzullo in the seventh place match.


Connor Eastabrook (172) went 1-2, opening with a tech fall loss, but then getting a fall over Sayre’s Taryn Walmsley. He was pinned in his final match.


Zeryk Thurston (172) also went 1-2, opening with a loos, but then getting a fall over Wellsboro’s Richard Moore. He was pinned in his final match.


Kelton Raymond (133) went 0-2.
