Even before the second semester started CJ Carr of Lock Haven was back on the mats at the Bobby Kauffman Memorial Open at Edinboro University. 

Carr again wrestling at 141, faced off against Anthony Ferraro of Edinboro University in the round of 16. Carr would give up the first-period takedown and a late set of near-fall points to be down 7-0 after the first period. Carr started the second period in the top position, giving up the escape and takedown to end the second period down 11-0. Going neutral in the third period for Carr, he would give up another takedown before getting an escape to make the score 14-1. However, Carr would surrender the final takedown to end the match losing by technical fall 17-1 in 6:23 to fall to the consolations. 

Wrestling in the consolation round 16 #2 Carr would face Joey Romano of Lake Erie (unattached). Carr would give up the match’s first takedown however he would earn the reversal to cut the lead to 3-2. Carr would give up the escape to make the score 4-3 before getting the takedown to take a 5-4 lead. Carr would start the second period in the down position and again scored the reversal to take a 7-4 lead before giving up an escape for the 8-5 lead. Carr again attacks again and scores the takedown for a 10-5 lead. Starting the third period in the neutral position Carr would give up a takedown and near fall points to fall behind 12-10 before earning the escape to cut the lead to 12-11. At the end of the third, the score was tied when Carr added the ride time point to make it 12-12. In sudden victory, Carr would secure the match-winning takedown to win the match 15-12 to move onto the consi round 8#1.

In the consi round 8#1, Carr would face Trey Friedman of Drexel (unattached). Carr would surrender the match’s first takedown to go down 3-0 before earning an escape and late takedown to take a 4-3 lead into the second. Carr would choose the down position to start the second period. Carr would earn the escape before giving up a takedown and near fall points to make the score 10-3. Carr would again get the escape and takedown to cut the score to 10-9. Carr would start the final period in the top position. Carr would give up the escape, which would be the last point scored of the match. The match would end in Carr's 11-9 decision loss, ending his day at 1-2.
