SULLIVAN COUNTY COMES UP SHORT AGAINST NEUMANN (2025-01-08)

LAPORTE — Sullivan County came up short against District IV power St. John Neumann, falling 53-46 in Mid-Penn boys’ basketball action Tuesday.

The Griffins led early, but found themselves down 28-20 at the half after a 19 point second quarter from Neumann. Sullivan would out score them 26-25 in the second half but couldn’t get over the hump.


Tucker Blasi had 18 points to lead Sullivan, with Colin King getting 12 points, and nine boards.


Lucas King added eight points, to go with five steals, while Cayden Smithkors had three points, and 12 boards.


Dominic Marotti finished with three points, as Jaiden Moore, and Ryan Murray had one point each. Moore also had eight boards.


Dalton Thompson led Neumann with 23 points.


Blasi had six first quarter points as Sullivan jumped out to an 11-9 lead. Thompson went off for 11 points in the second frame to push Neumann to an 8-point advantage at the half.


In the third the Griffins chipped away, out scoring Neumann 13-11 as Blasi netted four points. Colin King and Blasi had five points each in the fourth, but LaJon Dizzard scored five of his eight points to help Neumann hold off the rally.


Neumann won the JV game 34-21.


Sullivan County travels to Montgomery on Friday.
