NTL BOYS' BASKETBALL: FITCH, WILLIAMS HAVE BIG NIGHTS BUT CANTON FALLS TO NP-LIBERTY (2025-01-09)
Northern Tier Sports ReportLIBERTY — Ben Fitch and Talin Williams combined for 39 points but Canton fell to NP-Liberty, 63-48, during NTL boys’ basketball action Thursday.
The Warriors led 15-14 after one, and the game was tied at 32-all when they went to the locker rooms, but NPL out scored Canton 31-16 to get the win.
Fitch had 25 points to lead Canton, as Williams chipped in with 14. Gunnar Resavage scored five, with Monte Whitehead netting four.
Adynn Wheeland had 28 points to lead the Mounties.
Fitch went off in the first quarter, netting 12 points to lead the Warriors to the 1-point lead. NPL out scored Canton 18-17 in the second behind nine from Wheeland, while Fitch hit two 3-balls to pace the Warriors.
The Mounties came out in the third and out scored Canton 14-6 to take a 46-38 lead. Williams paced Canton with four points.
In the final frame NPL poured in 17 points to pull away for the win.
Canton (4-6) travels to Troy on Saturday with a 7 p.m. start.
