NTL BOYS' BASKETBALL: TOWANDA FALLS TO SULLIVAN COUNTY (2021-02-26)
Northern Tier Sports ReportLAPORTE — Towanda didn’t have a player score in double figures as they fell to Sullivan County 52-37 in non-league boys’ basketball action Friday.
This was Towanda's fifth game in five days - with one more to play Saturday.
Justin Schoonover led the Knights with nine points, as Logan Lambert netted eight. Kolby Hoffman scored six, while Elias Shrawder and Mason Hartmann had four points each. Dante Ottaviani and Octavious Chacona chipped in with three points apiece.
Riley King led Sullivan with 16 points.
The Griffins jumped out to a 15-8 first quarter lead behind six points from Thane Thomas. Towanda fared better in the second quarter, keeping it a 27-18 deficit at the half. Lambert had five points in the second frame to lead the Knights.
Sullivan broke it open in the third quarter, though, scoring 18 points behind six from Bryon Fitzgerald and Alex Schweitzer.
Towanda had two 3-pointers in the third, but no other field goals, as they found themselves down 45-28 going into the final frame.
They would out score the Griffins in the fourth, but weren’t able to mount a comeback.
Towanda will finish up their season at Wellsboro Saturday, with a noon start.
