NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: TOWANDA NEARLY UPSETS WILLIAMSPORT (2025-01-12)
Northern Tier Sports ReportWILLIAMSPORT — Towanda dropped a thriller against Williamsport during non-league girls’ basketball action, falling to the Millionaires 45-42 Saturday.
Down 28-21 at the half the Knights rallied in the second, out scoring Williamsport 21-17 but just couldn’t quite get over the hump.
Brynn Woodruff had 13 points to lead Towanda, as Mya Maynard netted 12, and Payton Perry finished with 10.
Karis Flynn scored five, with Kennedy Heyer chipping in with two.
Laylah Martin led the Millionaires with 12 points.
Williamsport led 17-14 after one with Woodruff and Perry scoring five points each in the opening frame. The Millionaires extended their lead with an 11-7 second quarter.
Towanda tightened the screws in the third, holding Williamsport to just six points, while Flynn and Woodruff had three points apiece for the Knights.
In the fourth Towanda hit six field goals as they tried to rally, led by Maynard and Woodruff netting four points each, but came up short.
Williamsport won the JV game 51-42. Reese Sullivan led Towanda with 14 points, while Landon Decker netted 10.
The Knights travel to North Penn-Mansfield on Wednesday.
