Wrestling once again close to his hometown, 15th ranked Sheldon Seymour and 19th ranked Lehigh University were in Ithaca, NY, taking on the 12th ranked team Cornell Big Red. What used to be a conference dual rivalry is not a non-conference rivalry, with the Ivies leaving the EIWA. However, this dual is usually close, very contested, and sometimes heated, with the crowd always involved. Today’s match was unique as the Cornell Women’s gymnastics team was competing side by side with the wrestling teams as noted as the Rumble and Tumble Event.

With the match once again starting at 125, Sheldon would face off against Marcello Milani. Seymour, being the aggressor from the start, however, gets called for a stall warning by the official as they are going out of bounds. After a scoreless first period.

Starting the second period in the bottom position, Seymour would earn the escape. A stall warning against Milani. The second period would end with Seymour up 1-0 and both wrestlers with a stall warning.

Seymour would start the third period in the top position. Riding tough, Seymour would earn another point with a stalling by Milani, making it 2-0. Building his ride time up to over a minute and a half, Seymour would again be nailed for stalling while working on top to make the score 2-1. After the restart, with about 0:25 left in the match, Seymour would hold on to the ankle and be called for another stalling call, giving up another point to tie the score. However, adding in the ride time point, Seymour would earn the 3-2 decision to put Lehigh on the board 3-0.

Lehigh would end up losing the dual 23-19 to go 1-1 over the weekend. Seymour and Lehigh wrestling will be back in action Friday as they travel to Maryland to take on the United States Naval Academy.
