NTL BOYS' BASKETBALL: TOWANDA PULLS AWAY FROM WYALUSING (2025-01-16)

TOWANDA — Towanda boys’ basketball got the season sweep on Wyalusing, beating the Rams 53-27 during NTL action Thursday.

Towanda took a 7-4 lead in a low scoring first quarter, then netted 18 second quarter points to go up 25-10. After that they clamped down to hold Wyalusing at bay.


Boom Thompson led Towanda with 13 points, while Markel Garner netted 11. Landon Clark notched nine, Darrius Farrell and Bayley Poll had six points each, as Ben Shrawder finished with four.


Lucas Vincent, and Graham Welles each chipped in with two.


Shay Gartland led Wyalusing with seven points, as Zabiah Walton netted six. Hunter House scored five, Tyler Caplan netted four, with Myles Kershner, and Jared VandeMark getting two points each. 


Will McBride chipped in with one.


Garner led Towanda with four points in the first quarter, while Clark and Poll had two 3-balls each in the second as they took the 15-point lead at the half.


Thompson scored five in the third, but the Rams hung in there as House hit a 3-ball, getting out scored just 11-10 in the frame as the Knights took a 36-20 lead.


In the fourth Towanda went off for 17 points behind six from Thompson, and five out of Garner, they pulled away.


Wyalusing (1-10) hosts East Juniata on Saturday with a 1:30 p.m. start, while Towanda (7-6) welcomes Notre Dame, also with a 1:30 p.m. tip-off.
