NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: TOWANDA STARTS FAST IN WIN OVER CV (2025-01-22)
Northern Tier Sports ReportTOWANDA — Towanda started fast against CV in their 61-42 win during NTL girls’ hoops action Tuesday.
“Our kids bounced back and really competed tonight against a very physical, tough, and well coached CV team,” said Towanda coach Rob Gentile. “Everyone contributed tonight and we got great minutes from our freshman. Mary Kate Eberlin and Reese Sullivan consistently hounded their guards. London Decker played great post dense and rebounded the ball really well when we needed her in the first half and Ali Hollett hit 2 huge threes at the end of the second quarter to give us some momentum at the half! Tonight was another step forward. I was really proud of the overall team effort!”
The Knights led 19-8 after one, then pushed that lead to 32-15 at the half. Another 19-point frame in the third secured the win for Towanda.
Payton Perry hit four 3-balls en route to 20 points while adding five boards, five assists, and four steals, as Mya Maynard finished with 15 points, five boards, and three blocks.
Brynn Woodruff had six points, six boards, and steals, as Ali Hollett notched six points, as well.
Karis Flynn, and Mary-Kate Eberlin, had five points and two steals each, with Kennedy Heyer scoring three points to go with two blocks. Reese Sullivan chipped in with a point, and four assists.
Ella Churchill had 19 to lead CV as Ashley Woodring scored 18.
Perry had eight points in the opening frame to lead the Knights as they doubled up CV. Towanda then hit three 3-pointers in the second quarter to take the 17 point lead.
In the third Perry and Maynard combined for 15 of their 19 points as they built a 51-27 lead going into the fourth.
Towanda won the JV game 59-15 as Hollett had 22 points on six 3-balls, while Eberlin scored 11.
Towanda (8-7) travels to Canton on Thursday.
