NTL WRESTLING: NEB GIRLS TOP CENTRAL COLUMBIA, BOYS FALL (2025-01-23)

ROME — NEB girls edged Central Columbia while the boys’ wrestling squad fell to the Blue Jays during non-league wrestling action Wednesday.

The Lady Panthers won 35-24 as all six wrestlers posted wins.

NEB won the first four matches to take a 23-0 lead. Anaiah Kolesar (130) started things off with a tech fall, followed by Riley Lamson (136) earning a forfeit.

Ava Lambert (142) got a pin, then Cora Franklin (148) followed with a forfeit.

After a pair of double forfeits Central would take a 24-17 lead as they got forfeits from 190 to 106.

Dariela Reyes-Ramirez (112) gave NEB the lead back with a forfeit, then Mackenzie Clark sealed it with fall at 118.

On the boys’ side it was CC getting the fast start, with two falls and two forfeits to go up 24-0.

Mason Alexander (107) got a tech fall, followed by Hunter Comstock (121) earning a major decision to cut it to 24-9.

An Alex Gomez (139) forfeit made it 24-15. Russell Martin (145) then got a pin, followed by a Kale Howland (152) tech, which put NEB up 26-24.

The match came down to 160 but Blue Jay Crue Chipeleski got the fall over Zeryk Thurston to get the win.
