NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: CANTON USES BALANCED ATTACK TO BEAT CV (2025-01-30)

CANTON — Canton went a long way to shoring up the second place spot in the NTL Small School standings with their 49-42 victory over CV Thursday.

Canton and CV are now both 6-6 in league standings, but the Warriors have the tie-breaker by virtue of them sweeping the Indians. Both teams have four league games left.


It was a balanced effort in the score sheet with Kendall Kitchen netting 15 points to go with six boards, and four steals.


Lydia Roupp had 13 points, six rebounds, and two steals, as Cailyn VanNoy finished with 10 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and three steals.


Danah Wesneski had four point, and four assists, Alexis McRoberts notched four points, and two steals, with Stella Rockwell getting three points, and three assists.


Ashley Woodring led CV with 12 points.


The Indians led 17-15 after one behind seven from Starr Ordway with Kitchen scoring five to pace Canton.


The Warriors used an 18-point second quarter to take a 33-29 lead at the half. Kitchen went off for eight, with Roupp scoring five.


The defenses settled in during the second half, but Canton still out scored them 16-13 to get the win, holding CV to just six points in the fourth.


Canton won the JV contest 28-17 as Rockwell netted 11, and Savannah Boyles scored nine.


Canton (11-7) will travel to Sayre on Saturday.
