Woodruff continuing to score points and help lead the Wildcats on the mat. Penn College will be back in Sunday February 1, 2025 at the Rennie Rodarmel Allstate Invitational.

Making the long trip to the western part of the state, we find CJ Carr wrestling unattached for Lock Haven University at the Edinboro Open.

Starting in the round of 32, Carr would face off against Justin Shay unrostered.  Carr would open the first period with a 3-point takedown and finish the period on top. Going into the second period with a 3-0 lead, Carr would start in the top position. Carr would give up the 1-point escape and work to get another takedown to take a 6-1 lead going into the third period. Choosing the neutral position to start the third, Carr would not be able to add a takedown. However, at the end of the third and having built up ride time, Carr would win the match by decision 7-1.

Moving into the round of 16, Carr would find himself wrestling against Prestyn Parks of Ohio University. Carr would take the lead in the first on a 1-point technical violation. Heading into the second with a 1-0 lead, Carr would start in the top position.  Carr would surrender the 1-point escape to even the score at one apiece. Carr would start the third period in the bottom position. It is here where Carr would earn the reversal to take the 3-1 lead. Carr would win by a 3-1 decision to move into the quarterfinals.

In the quarterfinals, Carr would meet Andre Gonzales of Ohio State. Carr would give up the first takedown to fall behind 3-0 before getting the 1-point escape. However, after giving up another takedown to make it 6-1, Carr would be put to his back and give up four near fall points to make it 10-1. Carr would get another escape. However, he would surrender another takedown to end the first period down 13-2. In the second period, Carr would choose neutral, where he would give up two more takedowns while only earning one escape. The match would end in a loss by Technical falling 19-3 to drop Carr into the consolation bracket.

In the consi round 8 #2, Carr would face off against Giousue Hickman of Northwestern unattached. In the first period, with not much action, Carr would be hit for a stall warning. Starting the second period 0-0, Carr would be in the top position. Another stall call against Carr would make the score 1-0, and by giving up an escape and takedown, Carr would find himself trailing 5=0 heading into the third. Carr, once again, would choose the neutral position in the third. Giving up the takedown and only points scored in the third, Carr would lose by a 9-0 decision after the ride time point was added in.

Carr would end his day 2-2. Getting the mat time and putting the work in is what Carr is doing.

Hudson Ward also wrestled at Edinboro unattached for Lock Haven.

Ward would open his day in the round of 32, where he would face Nathan Rickards of Virginia unattached. In the first period, Ward would give up the first takedown. But Ward would earn the 1-point escape to cut the lead to 3-1. Giving up another takedown, Ward would find himself down 6-1 after the first period. Ward would start the second in the top position, and with no scoring in the second period, Ward would head to the third down 6-1 with a stall warning. Ward would start the third in the neutral position. Again, it was a scoreless period, and with Ward having ride time, the final would be a decision loss for Ward 6-2.

Falling to the consi round 16#1 Ward would face Benny Rogers of Cornell unattached. In the first period, Ward would find himself trailing 5-0 after giving up a takedown and near-fall points. Heading into the second period Ward would start in the top position. Ward would give up the reversal to make the score 7-0. An escape by Ward would make it 7-1. With another takedown and nearfall points given up Ward would find himself trailing 14-1 going into the third period. Ward would choose neutral to start the third period. With one last takedown given up by Ward, Ward would lose by technical fall 17-1 in 5:51.

Ward would end his day 0-2. However, putting time in and working is what it is about. Keep checking back for more college wrestling.
