AOW: TROY'S STERLING, NEB'S BROWN HAVE BIG WEEKS (2025-02-09)
Northern Tier Sports ReportIt was an exciting week with Troy boys and girls clinching back to back league titles, while Canton girls, and NEB boys solidified their district spots as they try to get home games for the first round.
Troy’s Kailyn Sterling had a big week that got bigger as time went on. She averaged 16.3 PPG per game, saving her best effort for last, a 23-point performance that saw the Trojans top Jersey Shore to go undefeated on the week. Sterling is the Female Athlete of the Week.
NEB’s Cooper Brown averaged 20 PPG this week as he helped the Panthers to a 2-1 record. He had 25 in the loss to Towanda, then notched 20 to help the Panthers beat Sayre to take second in the division, and move into the fourth spot in the District IV, Class AA standings. Brown is the Male Athlete of the Week.
