NTL GIRLS' WRESTLING: TOWANDA'S ALLIS, MAYNARD TAKE HOME SILVERS, FIVE ADVANCE TO REGIONALS (2025-02-16)
Northern Tier Sports ReportWILLIAMSPORT — Towanda had five place finishers, including two runners-up, as they took sixth as a team at the District IV Girls’ Wrestling Championships Saturday.
JC Allis (118) and Lillie Maynard (106) both took home silvers, with Elizabeth Naughton (170), Lylah Bride (148), and Shaylynn Morris (235) all taking fourth.
All five will advance to regionals in two weeks.
“A great day of wrestling,” said Towanda coach Brock Nichols. “Everyone top to bottom left everything on the mat, as a coach, that’s all I can ask. Sixth place as a team for a first year program in the tough District IV is great. I couldn’t be more proud of the girls.”
Maynard used two first period falls to get to the finals, then lost 8-1 to Montgomery’s Jenna Houseknecht.
Allis used a fall, then a 15-0 tech fall to get into the finals, but was pinned by Williamsport’s Lillian Rumsey once she got there.
Morris opened with a loss, then scored a fall in the blood round to advance to the consolation semifinals. There she was pinned to take fourth.
Bride opened with a fall, then was pinned herself. She got a fall to get the third place match, but then lost an 11-3 major decision to NEB’s Ava Lambert.
Naughton started things with a first fall, then got pinned in the next round. She followed that with a fall, before getting pinned in the third place match.
Alivia Spicer (155), Hailey Harbst (100), Ily Benjamin (136), and Kenzie Brown (124) all went 1-2, as Adalee Wecker (190), and Deztine Matthews (142) both went 0-2.
