NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: NEB'S BEEBE HAS BIG NIGHT IN WIN OVER EAST JUNIATA (2025-02-19)

Northern Tier Sports Report
ROME — Leah Beebe hit six 3-pointers as NEB rolled past East Juniata, 53-34, in the opening round of the District IV, Class AA Girls’ Basketball playoffs Tuesday.

The Panthers held EJ to just nine first half points, with just two players scoring all of their points.

“Our defense was the difference tonight,” said NEB coach Ben Beebe. “The girls played great defense, trapping and communicating without fouling was key. We couldn't find the hoop very well tonight.

Beebe finished with 27 points to go with seven steals, and four assists.

“Leah's a great competitor, she leaves it all on the court every time,” coach Beebe said. “She was not shooting very well but she know that she needs to put it up for it to go in. I thought she took good shots tonight and didn't force.”

Lillie Maynard added six points, 15 boards, and six steals, as Becca VanDeMark added 11 points. Mallorie Maynard had seven points, and four boards, with Lilah Hughes adding two points, seven rebounds, and three steals.

Landyn Crames led EJ with 26 points, while Madison Snyder scored the other eight.

It was a slow start offensively as a total of 12 points were scored in the opening frame, as the Panthers led 10-2.

Beebe heated up in the second with eight points, as VandeMark scored five to extend their lead to 23-nine at the half.

Caries scored 10 points in the third quarter as EJ tried to get their offense going, but Beebe paced NEB with eight points in the third to help them push their lead to 37-19.

The Panthers out scored EJ 16-15 in the fourth to get the win, as Beebe netted eight more in the final frame.

NEB will take on Canton, 48-45 winners over Southern Columbia, in the semifinals at a time, place, and date to be determined.
