NTL FOOTBALL: TOWANDA'S FARRELL HEADED TO SLIPPERY ROCK FOR FOOTBALL (2025-02-21)

Towanda’s Varrius Farrell has been one of the best linemen in the NTL for much of his career, and now he’ll try to do that in the PSAC as he heads to Slippery Rock to play football.

“This is my dream,” Farrell said. “I worked hard for this, and I’m glad that all the fruits of my labor have been collected.”

What drew him to Slippery Rock was their on the field success.

“They’re the number three team in Division-II,” said Farrell. “They’re the best team around here, with a great coaching staff. I’m going to learn a lot from their offensive line coach. He’s a great guy - he played for the Steelers, and at Fresno State.”

Farrell’s been strong on both sides of the ball but he felt the offensive side is his future.

“They all saw me as an offensive lineman, which I was OK with,” he said. “I know I have talent there, and who am I to not utilize that talent.”

It’ll be a big jump from NTL football to Division-II but Farrell remains unfazed.

“Right now I’m working on getting my strength up,” he explained. “In the NTL strength isn’t really the biggest thing, but once you get to the PSAC everyone’s stronger, everyone’s bigger. Right now I’m going to get stronger, take my redshirt year, and become a better football player.”
