NTL WRESTLING: TOWANDA'S HIGLEY EXCITED FOR KENT STATE (2025-02-21)

Towanda’s Mason Higley is currently working his way through the postseason wrestling tournament, but once he’s done with that, the Black Knight will be hitting the mats at Kent State next year.

“It feels really good,” Higley said about his decision. “I kind of made it now to get it out of the way, and it’s kind of one of those things that takes the pressure off. Going through the recruiting process was really, really fun. I talked to some amazing coaches, but ultimately Kent State felt like home.”

Higley was a fan of Kent State before he even set foot on campus.

“They were the first team to ever reach out when recruiting opened for my class,” he explained. “The team, before I even said, ‘hey, I’m coming here,’ made me feel like I was a brother, and already part of the team. It’s a Division-I school, so I’ve always had the hopes of competing at the highest level, and competing against the best guys in the country. They have state of art facilities, and I feel like it’s a place that I can go, and not only become the best wrestler, but the best person, ”

He doesn’t know where he’ll wrestle at yet, whether 197 or 285, but he’s currently got more important things to worry about at the moment.

“Recruiting is done now so I can really focus on the goal ahead of winning a state title,” remarked Higley.
