COLLEGE: WYALUSING'S WOODRUFF TAKES SIXTH AT REGIONALS FOR PENN COLLEGE (2025-03-03)

It is postseason time for Division III wrestling. Nick Woodruff and Penn College are in action at the NCAA Region III Championships at Lycoming College. This is a two-day tournament.

Wrestling in the round of 16, Woodruff opens up against Alec Kapacs, Pitt-Bradford. Woodruff earns the first period fall in :27 to move onto the quarterfinals.

In the quarters, Woodruff faces off against Aaron Llanas of Centenary. Woodruff would earn the 13-11 decision to move onto the semi-finals.

After day one of the competition, Woodruff would end 2-0 and wrestle in the semi-finals against Cameron Butka of Wilkes University. 

Day 2 of wrestling, needing to finish in the top three to punch your ticket to the Division III National Tournament, Nick Woodruff will start his day off in the semi-finals against Cameron Butka of Wilkes University. 

In the semi-finals, it would be Woodruff versus the top seed Butka. In the end, Woodruff would lose by a 5-3 regular decision and fall to the consolation semi-finals. 

Needing to put a couple of wins together, Woodruff would first face Carson Licastri of Oneonta State. Woodruff would eventually fall to Licastri by fall in 3:17. With the loss, Woodruff would drop to the fifth place match.

In the fifth place match, Woodruff finds himself facing off against Braydon Vanderberg of St. John Fischer. Nick would once again drop the match by fall in 4:25. 

Day 2 of wrestling saw Woodruff going 0-3 and placing 6th. After a 2-3 tournament, Woodruff’s season would come to an end.
