SULLIVAN COUNTY'S WADE CLINCHES A MEDAL AT WRESTLING STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS (2025-03-07)
Northern Tier Sports ReportHERSHEY — Sullivan County’s Colton Wade fell into the consolations at the PIAA, Class AA Wrestling Championships Friday, but made it through the blood round to clinch a medal. He ended up getting through the fourth round of consolations, guaranteeing himself a top six finish.
Wade (127) opened with a 17-2 tech fall to Faith Christian’s Joey Bachman in the quarterfinals, but rebounded to hold on in a blood round win over Bishop McCort’s Austin Carfley, 5-4.
Wade got a takedown in the first against Carfley, with Carfley getting out to make it 3-1. In the second Carfley cut it to 3-2 with an escape.
Wade would get two points to start the third, for a 5-2 lead. He would get tagged for stalling, making it 5-4 late, but held off Carfley’s attacks.
In the fourth round of consolations he tech falled Saucon Valley’s Matthew Santoro, 15-0.
He got a first period takedown to take a 3-0 lead, then when Santoro went down in the second he turned him three times for the win.
