NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: NEB FALLS IN NAIL BITER TO WILLIAMS VALLEY (2025-03-08)

NEB came up just short to Williams Valley, 49-46, in their PIAA, Class AA first round girls’ basketball game Friday.

The Panthers led 24-18 at the half, with the two teams knotted at 32 heading into the fourth. They were knotted as late as 30 seconds to go at 46, with Williams Valley out scoring them them the rest of the way.

Leah Beebe had 12 points, and four steals for NEB as Lilah Hughes, and Becca VanDeMark added 10 points apiece. Hughes added three assists, and two steals, as VanDeMark grabbed four boards.

Lillie Maynard added 12 boards, and four steals, to go with eight points, while Mallorie Maynard notched two points, six boards, and three steals. Kara Dughi chipped in with four points. 

It was tied 6-6 after one with Lillie Maynard, Hughes, and VanDeMark all scoring for NEB. 

Hughes went off for seven points to lead their second quarter spurt that saw them take a lead into the locker rooms. 

Beebe would hit four of her team’s five 3-balls in the second half, but it wouldn’t be enough.
