NTL SOFTBALL: WYALUSING FALLS AT NP-LIBERTY IN OPENER (2025-03-18)
Northern Tier Sports ReportMANSFIELD — Wyalusing softball fell to defending NTL Large School champions, NP-Liberty, 9-2 during their opening day Tuesday.
The Mounties led 3-0 after three innings, then pumped in five in the fourth for an 8-0 lead. Both teams scored in the fifth, then Wyalusing got another in the sixth for the 7-run difference.
Addi Bly (3-for-3) was perfect from the plate, hitting a triple, and scoring a run.
Treanna Nickeson (1-for-4) and Josie Ferris each had an RBI, and Rachel Wilson (1-for-4) also scored.
Kylie Pickett went the first 3 2/3-innings for the loss, striking out two with four walks, five hits, and eight runs.
Addison Fluck tossed the next 2 1/3-innings with three strikeouts, two walks, one hit, and one run.
Haley Litzelman (2-for-3) and Claire Dominick (2-for-3) combined for three doubles, two runs scored, and 6-RBI to lead the Mounties. Elyna Booth struck out 14 in the win.
After finding themselves down 8-0 in the top of the fifth Bly reached on a hit, then scored on a Nickeson ground out to get the Rams on the scoreboard.
In the sixth Wyalusing loaded the bases with no outs, as a Ferris ground out brought in Wilson. NPL would get out of the inning on a pick-off.
Wyalusing (0-1) travels to Towanda on Thursday.
