NTL WRESTLING: YOUTHFUL WYALUSING SEES SOME SUCCESS, ESPECIALLY IN THE POSTSEASON (2025-03-19)

Northern Tier Sports Report
Wyalusing had an up-and-down year on the mats this past winter, but the underclassmen heavy squad showed they have plenty of talent going forward.

The Rams went 8-13 during the dual meet season, looking like they were going to reach district duals until a few close losses down the stretch kept them out as they battled injuries.

They opened with a loss to one of the top teams in the district, Montgomery (49-18), but came back to go 4-2 in their Gary Woodruff Memorial Duals.

Wins over NEB (45-24), and Wellsboro (51-15) got them going, while they took NTL runners-up, Athens (38-30) to the wire in a loss.

They would go 2-4 at the Line Mountain Duals, but evened their record with a win over Troy (39-29).

They lost their final five matches, but three were nip-and-tuck, falling to Williamson (39-33), Canton (39-34), and NP-Liberty (45-29).

They had more success in the postseason, taking second at the North Section Tournament as they beat out Williamson, Canton, and NP-Liberty.

They advanced five to districts, and four to regionals, with most of those being underclassmen.

Senior Ayden Hunsinger (152) was a model of consistency for the Rams, going 41-7 on the year, and making it all the way to the state tournament.

Junior Isaiah Harvey (114) battled through a tough postseason bracket to make it to regionals, and finished with a 31-12 record.

Fellow Junior Jonathan Earle (145) was a regional qualifier, as well, going 29-12 on the season. Bostyn McMicken (121) had a strong post season run to make it all the way to regionals, with Dan Fox (215) taking eight at districts, and going 17-12 on the year.

When junior Cole Patrick (139) was on the mat he proved tough, but wasn’t able to wrestle until the end of the season due to an injury. He went 8-6 on the season, making it to districts, where an injury kept him from joining his other teammates at regionals.

All but Hunsinger return for next season as Wyalusing looks to keep improving.
